Speaker bio
Beginning his career in the rail industry in 1990, Lee has drawn on his lived experience of childhood trauma and a later diagnosis of complex PTSD to champion improved mental health support across the sector. He established a peer-support and advocacy programme for colleagues, fostering a culture of openness and resilience within the workforce. In 2021, Lee co-launched the Railway Mental Health Charter in partnership with the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB). The initiative has since been adopted by more than 140 organisations across the rail industry, marking a significant step forward in collective wellbeing efforts. In recognition of his pioneering contributions to mental health in transport, Lee was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM).
