Sophie Bancroft is on secondment to HR using her operational experience to support shaping the future of Great British Railways, focusing on what it will be like for colleagues working in the organisation. Sophie joined Network Rail in 2024 as Operations Director, Western route having moved from Transport for London where she spent over 15 years in front line operational and senior management roles. The railway is a conscious career choice and Sophie’s goal is to ensure we run a good service today; and set us up for success in the future, working with our TOC and freight colleagues. People are at the heart of the railway; from both a customer and colleague perspective; it is incredibly important to Sophie that our people know they can ask for help; that you will be supported and to also learn techniques to build one’s resilience. Sophie lives in South London with her husband and two lovely children, aged 9 and 7.
